Folk Art Cross with Eye
12x8.5x2
This collaborative piece between Betsy and an unknown folk artist merges the central eye with radiating quartz crystal and a vintage matchstick cross. The eye is surrounded by glass beads, glass stones, pearls, Brazilian quartz crystal, Mediterranean coral, and Czech rhinestones. The underlying form was constructed using match sticks adhered to a piece of wood. The cross is an example of the Prison Folk Art tradition. Used matchsticks were a cheap, versatile, and readily available material for prisoners to use in the creative process. There is a hanger on the back for wall hanging.
